Being ‘greedy’ or aggressive may ruin the ranking, here are some scenarios:

Long Time No Post
It’s been loooong enough since my last post. I have been very very lazy, also ignored my websites a lot.
Time to make a change, I’m going to post on this blog every other day. When I have nothing to say, I will make a one liner post.
If You Used the Wrong Service…
I used an article submission service which added 10 spammy sites in the author bio. Some articles started to pop up in MSN when I checked the backlinks. I feel very bad whenever I see them. I decided to contact each article site and ask them to remove those unrelated urls.
Quality Websites
I have been trying to build quality websites since the beginning, but all my efforts seemed to be totally in vain. I know the old saying “Content is the King”, I also truly believe it, but I didn’t really understand it until recently, that’s why I took a very different path – “Link is the King”. I used to think they are the same thing – Because a site has good content, it gets good links, hence good ranking. Sounds correct, right? Not at all!
Google Lacks Updates
I used to see ranking on Google up and down every day, but in the past two weeks, the ranking seemed frozen. Did Google go back to the old days – Like two years ago? Although I only had a personal site at that time and didn’t know anything about SEO.
Website Publisher – Guides, Tutorials, and Advice for Internet Publishers.
Websitepublisher.net looks like a great resource, it covers similar topics to this blog, but has better and more professional content.
I think I used the wrong domain name for this blog.
Can you earn a living with websites?
Sure. I know many people earn well from their websites. But it’s not easy and requires hard work and patience.
Check out the article by Chris Beasley, there are many great points in it.
You shouldn’t worry too much about the competition. As much as we’d like to think otherwise the Internet is still in it’s infancy and it has a lot of growing to do. The sites you make today (and yes, you should start as soon as possible if you want to do this) will be established in 5 years. If you really made website publishing your job and worked on it on a daily basis I honestly think it’d be nearly impossible for you to not be making a decent income from it in 5 years. You’d have to make some pretty big mistakes to fail in the long run.
