Do massive outbound links hurt the rankings? Not necessarily. Please note that it’s different from linking to bad neighbors in site-wide range.

Google’s everfresh can kill a site easily, after many times of ranking fluctuation, also referring to some posts on WMW, I got the idea “don’t update your header and footer files if it’s not necessary”, it sounds ridiculous, but it works like a charm for my sites – In the past six weeks, my sites have very consistent traffic. Unbelievable!

Recently Google make data refresh very frequently, which hits some websites badly. Take my site as an example, when it gets hit, the traffic drops from thousands of visitors to less than 100. After this happened a few times on my site, combined with other webmasters’ reports, I’m now almost sure it’s because of the bulk update on the pages such as the footer or header files. This may sound ridiculous, but it explains what’s been happening on my site very well.

So, don’t update your header and footer files if it’s not necessary, even adding a company name could ruin your ranking.

After I fixed the problem of www and non-www redirection, some sites have recovered their indexed pages, rankings are also coming back but will take a while to get where they were.

I wouldn’t believe it if it didn’t happen to my sites – a few sites. In the last two months, I noticed Google didn’t crawl my sites daily like before, the pages got de-indexed quickly, the rankings also dropped to nowhere. I thought it was caused by the changes of Google’s ranking algorithm and didn’t look into it. Today, I found an index page wasn’t cached by Google, I feel something is really wrong here.

Tried an article submission service on DigitalPoint forum. It seemed to be done by submission software, which is fine with me. But the very annoying thing is that the submitter appended 10 unrelated websites in the author bio. Think about someone submits articles with 11 urls, I will treat this as spam… very very bad.
